I think downtown Montreal is your best bet because there's so much to see, it's busy, the night-life is great and your accessibility to the metro is convenient. The location of the festival is out of the downtown core and it's easy to get there by metro. The downtown line is the green line and my suggestion is to choose a hotel on René-Lévesque Blvd, Rue Ste.Catherine or Rue Sherbrooke.

The hotels on René-Lévesque Blvd are economical and there are some newly renovated ones within walking distance to St.Laurent metro (3 blocks). Once you get out of the hotel and hop on the metro you can easily switch lines to get to the park.

The hotels in that area are the Travelodge, Holiday Inn (Express) and Days Inn all on René-Lévesque Blvd.

Thank you Lesley D for the information. I plan on traveling from NYC with a group of friends and wanted to know what areas to stay. I will be attending the festival for the weekend and have never been to Montreal. So again I thank you for the information.

You are welcome. If you have any other questions I will be glad to help.

May I suggest booking your hotel asap. Montreal is extremely busy in the summertime and it can be difficult to get hotel rooms in prime areas where events are taking place. You don't want to be forced to book outside of the downtown core and miss out on the fun. As well, stay on the metro line. The Montreal metro is excellent. Anywhere on the green or orange line would be an ideal location for you. Just do a search on google "hotels in Montreal" and focus on the streets I mentioned in my post above.

Coming from NYC you will have no problem. Interstate 87 N all way into Montreal. I have done that trip counteless times of course the other way to NYC.

Enjoy and good luck!

Dear Lesley D,
I'm also looking to visit some latin Dance clubs in Montreal. Do you have any suggestions. We like Merengue, Salsa, Bachata and are in our 30's. can you suggest any of them??? Thanks again for your information. I truly appreciated it.
