Default "Salsa on St. Clair".... Toronto Ontario

Salsa on St. Clair is this Saturday and Sunday. Carlos Cruz plus a whole lot of other performers will be there.

I'll be there. Who else is going?

Default For those reading the thread this Latin event is in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Toronto's celebration of Latin culture

I am going as well 'con mis amigos' but I have no concrete plans yet due to the weather. Whenever there's an outdoor event that's the first aspect I consider.

Right now according to the weather network Saturday looks like a wet day (maybe on and off) 80% chance of rain. Sunday's forecast is sunny. Therefore, take that into consideration.

Last year, I went for the first time (Saturday) and loved every inch of it. Paid the price the next day because my feet were sore. However, you know how the saying goes 'life only comes around once'.

Here are some helpful links about the festival:

Enjoy everyone. I know I will.

Default The programme? Does anyone have an online version?

Does any have the programme to post online? I have looked for links however; I was not able to find anything. I think knowing the performers and on what day they are performing would be great if some are planning to only go one day vs. both Saturday and Sunday.

Also, it will help with the target time as to when to be in the area. All the links I found are promoting the event but none have specific details about the shows and performers etc. Last year, I got the programme when I was there, however, it would be helpful to have an idea in advance.

Salsa on St. Clair

Thanks.

Marianopolita,
Did you find the list of performers on the TLN link? Hopefully the rain stops (if it rains at all) by the afternoon so we can enjoy the day.

Default Thanks margaret!

tarrantino,

Yes, thanks to margaret I got the programme . I did go on the TLN site but I did not see it. I knew I could count on someone here.

Well, yes Saturday looks like the unsettled day weather wise however, the forecasters say the rain will be a morning issue and then the afternoon will be dry just in time for the festivities I hope. My friends have placed the organization of the event on me, as usual so they told me 'we are doing whatever you do'. I gave them a heads up about the weather so they know.

I think the programme is well balanced in terms of shows. Carlos Cruz twice on Saturday and Son Aché on Sunday. If they are the same band as last year the close is going to be great!

Summer is so much fun if you get out there and enjoy the city.

Chao.

Okay, so it looks like the rain is heading East, I hope it doesn't start again. I am really looking forward to Salsa on St. Clair.

Default How was Salsa St. Clair everyone?

I thought it was very enjoyable, the weather was excellent once the down pour ended on Saturday. It was pure sunshine after that for the rest of the weekend. I was there until the close on Saturday. IMO, the best booth was Steps Dance Studio. The DJ was excellent. They always had a crowd of dancers on the floor. Good salsa in general, specifically sandunga. Great party! I saw Carlos Cruz perform. His bachata is excellent. He sings covers. I think his band is talented with an authentic Dominican sound. However, he did not entice the crowd. He had the chance to run away with the audience but somehow people were not dancing much. Just a little bit around the stage. Loved his merengue choices, Los Toros Band music which is always a crowd pleaser.

I went back on Sunday for the close. I wish I had gone even a little earlier because Son Aché was excellent as I expected and the Cuban Diaspora represented well. A nice street casino rueda broke out and all attention was on them in the area where I was. Cuban salsa really is in a class by itself and a live band is just an added bonus.

IMO, the weekend was a success. There was a great turnout on both days. Looking forward to next year. The sixth annual Salsa on St.Clair.
