Talking Divorce

I need to know if it is possible to get alimony and or sue my soon to be ex-husband who has lied and admitted to and was busted cheated on me and mislead me into spending thousands of dollars over the course of my 2 year marriage to him. I am very upset and very sad over our marriage ending but I don't know if like in The US, Dominican law allows for such a thing as sueing your spouse. Can anybody preferably an attorney or someone who has done this themseleves advise me?
( if it makes any diffrence I am an American in NYC married to a Dominican in SDQ)

What would you hope to accomplish? He has spent the money on his other girls and has two or three more lined up ready to hop on his "train."

If you get divorced in NYC, you can have a lawyer here file for support. It will stand up in local courts.

If you get divorced here, you had better hire a real kick a$$ attorney to make the fellow pay or go to jail...If you have proof of a swindle make sure it is available to the courts here....

You will have to pay some more for any of this to happen..

I am sooo truly sorry this happened to you!! The truth is that sometimes we as woman have to cut our loses. These men are not worth it! You will surpass this, you will heal and find a better man in the NYC. He on the other hand will have to eat $**t to take care of those kids he'll have with those diferent woman and will have to turn tricks to get meds for VD's he get for hoe'in around!! Forget about him, get a divorce and thank your lucky stars he never made it to the states!!

You can recover money, don;t stress your new beginning with non sense like alimony. It will probably only be like 50US a month and you'll spend a lot of cash on attorney's in DR!! So good luck.....and once again sorry you had to go through this!!

i serously doubt that you will get any alimoni from him. as it is, it sounds like he doesn't have a pot to **** in, unless he saved all the money he took from you .

in theory, it might sound nice to get revenge and make him pay money for personal satisfaction, but really, don't waste your time and money. the average attorney charges $250/hour. most dominicans don't make that in a month.

cut your losses, consider yourself lucky, call it a day, and just learn from this horrible experience. hope you can help others thru your experience. good luck .

I think all the girls that are thinking about marrying a Dominican man should read all the posts from enverswife.
A year ago she was happily married, looking for a job and a place to live in the DR.
Now, she's seen the light..

Thumbs up

I agree with the other posters. Just get a divorce, cut your losses, and move on with your life. I'm sure that you are hurt and ****ed off at the way you have been treated by your soon to be ex-husband. You are burning mad and want to get even, but remember the saying, "Revenge is a dish best served cold."
