Default Citizenship Applications Temporarily Halted

The National Police’s legal department recently announced that all citizenship processes have been halted and new applications will not be accepted until further notice, due to an ongoing audit at the department. No approximate time-frame was disclosed to Guzman Ariza. The only applications that will be accepted for processing during the time of the audit are the following:

(a) Citizenship for persons born of a Dominican parent, and

(b) Citizenship through marriage (only in the case of the foreign wife of a Dominican man).

Hello!
Do you have any news regarding this? When National Police will finish audit and start to process Citizenship Applications?
Thanks a lot.

I'll post an update early next week. See DR1 - Legal for more info on Dominican Citizenship.

Update:

Note that by:

"(a) Citizenship for persons born of a Dominican parent, and

(b) Citizenship through marriage (only in the case of the foreign wife of a Dominican man)."

they mean of a Dominican Parent and Dominican Man who is Dominican BY BIRTH, not by naturalization.

How do I know this?

I am a naturalized Dominican, and my wife and child were to have been sworn in today. Unfortunately, I am apparently not Dominican enough to qualify as a Dominican for the purposes of naturalizing my family. I was unaware there were levels of citizenship -- go figure...

At least I didn't waste the time and energy bringing my pregnant wife and 2 year old son all the way to the capital. I might have torn up my passport right there...

-Any updates ?

I am looking for citizenship, instead of just (once again) renewing my "permanent" residencia...

(being a European man...)

The child is Dominican by birth;there is no need to apply for citizenship. The child's birth certificate is his/her proof of citizenship. (the same applies to SosuaJoe's case, if the child was born in the DR after his naturalization)

Squat,

As of last week the measure was still in force.

SosuaJoe,

According to Art. 3 of law No. 1683 your wife, being married to a naturalized Dominican, has the right to apply for Dominican citizenship as long as she resides in the country at the time of the application. The only requirement is an authorization from your part, unless she can justify that the law of her country of citizenship does not require such authorization in order to obtain a second nationality.

On the other hand, Art. 4. states that "the children of a naturalized man acquire their Dominican citizenship automatically (de pleno derecho)". There is some paperwork needed.
He will have the right to renounce to his Dominican citizenship during a one-year period upon reaching legal age.
