Atty Jesus Garcia Tallaj
I was speaking to a POP DR lawyer some months ago; he commented that he was representing a group of very disappointed investors in Sun Village. I don't know what, if anything happened.
* 809 - 320 - 0862. GARCIA TALLAJ - CONSULTORES DE LEY. He speaks very good Englsh. He appears to have a very good reputation, by the standards [?] of the DR bar.
* Worth a sniff? Look before you leap? Measure 3 times, cut once? It's your money. Good fortune.

If the defrauded investors are using Jesus Garcia Tallaj they really do have a problem. He will milk them for every cent they may recover.

Puerto Plata Atty! ! !
Jesus Garcia Tallaj [809 320 0862] has had & has many clients - investors with many dealings with Sun Village.
* He has an office in Puerto Plata; he speaks perfect English.
* I strongly suggest that all potential investors , buyers, etc. invest 2 hours with him, before signing anything.
* It is prudent that I write no more. Caveat emptor!

Gabriela I suggest you be very careful what you say. Those comments are slanderous at best! Jesus has helped another group of investors in a different project and they are all extremely happy with the outcome.
I will second the suggestion made by Gringosabrasos - come and meet him and see for yourself!

Truth is never slander or libel
Hasn't Jesus Garcia Tallaj recently been convicted of fraudulent activity? And that's just what's been proven in court to date. I have met him face to face--he's a charming liar.

Yes, although I don't know how far the appeal has got. It was earlier this month when he was sentenced to a year & 5 million pesos plus the US$350,000 misappropriated. Details here:

Dear All, unfortunately our Judicial System is not the best in the world, even for attorneys, believe it or not I have been practicing for 16 years without any complaint at all from more than 500 clients I've assisted. Since I opened my firm's escrow account in 1995 it has held over 9 figures in US$ and not a cent had ever been missing. Unfortunately, I had to experience myself how weak our Justice System is with incompetent judges administrating justice to realyze how it feels. The decision that was wrongfully issued against me by the First Instance Judge will not prevail at Appeals Court, however it's costing me a lot more to clear my name from all the propaganda that has been intentionally spread to malign my reputation that I will ever recuperate when I countersue. Until then I suggest you don't believe everything you read in the papers.
This is the first public statement I've made because it's unethical for attorneys to publicly speak about their ongoing cases but since I'm not only an attorney but also a victim I've decided to begin defending myself.
Finally, I would like to know how can Gabriela support her statement regarding my honesty.
If anyone wants to know more, I'll be pleased to answer questions on this and any other legal topic.

My family and myself have been "robbed" by his firm in Puerto Plata. Paid in advance for work which was never performed and then have emails from him requesting more money before they will deliver the work. While it was not alot ($1,750USD) it was much more than what should have been charged for the work. We paid it because his firm said they would do it in 3 days. It is now 4 years later......

I'd like to qualify my previous post.......
..........since for some reason it won't let me edit it........even though the edit button was there............
The demands for paying extra for the work to be finished was not made by him but by his staff...and during this time, his staff was changing on what seemed to be a weekly basis! The files were passed from person to person and noone wanted to finish the work........After reviewing the emails from HIM, he was the only one in the office that was actually trying to solve the problem and even took the blame for "being away" and letting the problem happen......
.......even so, so much time and bull**** went on, that we just stopped contact and never got the work or the money............
So, even though we were disappointed with his "firm" we did not have any negative contact with him personally.

Welcome to DR1, Lic. Garcia. I think most of us are aware that journalism here can fall prey to the same perils as the justice system ........ but for us to be clear could you itemise which parts of the newspaper reports were wrong? I take it that 'sentenced to a year' is wrong (unless you're posting from the computer room at the Fortaleza? ) Courageous of you to open yourself up to questions here, looks like you got one immediately following your post.
And so that everyone is clear, to my knowledge I have never met you & I know I have never been a client of your firm so I have no personal stake in this whatsoever. I have, however, over the years tried to help a number of people wrongly accused (mostly foreigners) and in my view it isn't just weakness & incompetence which can bedevil the judicial system but also corruption - judges selling decisions to the highest bidder. Would you agree that this can be a factor in judicial decision making in Puerto Plata?
