Default santo domingo to cabarete??

Hi,

We're travelling to the DR from Canada this Thursday and until very recently had planned to rent a car to go from the Santo Domingo airport to our resort in Cabarete.

Could anyone please suggest alternate modes of transport for both our arrival and departure (we fly both in and out of Santo Domingo!)??

thanks so much!

BUS!!!
Absolutely.

Caribe Tours has direct service to Sosúa and the taxi to Cabarete is like $15...

Take a light wind breaker or sweater on the bus, they put the A/C at meat freezer temps...

Taxi to Caribe Tours depot in Santo Domingo is about $30 (+/-), maybe a tad more.

Bus is dirt cheap, like RD$250 or so ($8?)

Good choice on your part.

Apparently, Caribe Tours and Metro have both recently started travelling all the way to Cabarete from SD...no need to stop in POP (Metro) or Sosua (Caribe) and take a taxi. They do not have online or advance booking that Im aware of, but if you get to SD around 30 minutes before departure, then head to where the buses are and keep an eye out for the line, you should have no problems...for the return trip, you probably only need to be there about 15 minutes in advance.

Yes, I saw where Sosua and Cabarete were being added to the Metro offerings.
Good thing now..I wasn't sure if they actually started to go there...

Choose your ride.

I was in the Caribe Tours office in Cabarete today... the times for the ride TO Santo Domingo are as follows:
6a, 8a, 10a, 12, 2p, 4p, 5p

I didn't get the price but I assume it's only a few pesos more than Sosua, so still under 300 pesos to SD, but call CT to confirm...

Thanks so much for all your help - now, I can hardly wait til Thursday - the temperature here is going down to a windchill of minus 20 degrees celcius tonite, so I'm sure ready for Cabarete!!!

Looks like Cabarete was suspended and it stops in only SOsua now...taxis don't like competition!

That is correct. It was suspended almost before it started. You now will need to take a taxi from sosua to cabarete.
