Kate,

Option number 3,846 - If Jorge doesn't get back to you in the next hour then you can always PM me with all the information concerning your flight and I will call Benjamin and arrange for your pick-up. Once I have spoken to him I can PM you with what transpired. Cheaper that way also.

Rick

Hi there.
I just started on this forum.
I will be arriving into Punta Cana at 6:30 P.M. on a Wednesday. I read somewhere that "Expreso Bavaro" had started a service to Punta Cana. Is this correct and what is the itinerary from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo?. I prefer to travel to Santo Domingo as soon as possible after my arrival to Punta Cana. Can somebody tell me How far is Bavaro from Punta Cana airport?

thank you

tediv

Hi there all, just got back Santo Domingo. Will do a proper write up on it when I get some time, just wanted to let you know how I got on. Benjamin was waiting at the airport for me when I arrived (thanks fo organising that Rick and Jorge). He drove me in his taxi to Santo Domingo, but when we arrived he said it was 4,500 not 3,500 pesos - at this point I was too tired (and dn't yet speak enough Spanish) to argue with him. Had a fab 2 weeks there and managed to get a taxi back through a friend in Santo Domingo for 3,000 pesos so not quite as bad coming back. I have to say though in future I will fly to Puerto Plata - its much much easier (no charter flights to Santo Domingo from UK unfortunately). Didn' manage to find any buses that run at that time of night so taxi was the only way

Thanks agian Rick and jorge for helping and to both of you for checking that I was safely in the taxi!- that was extremely thoughtful of you both!

Kate

Let me say that you are very welcome, but, I will now speak for both myself and George (Jorge) in saying that is what we are here for and the main reason we belong to this wonderful board.

I'm very glad you enjoyed your stay and do look forward to reading your trip report when you find the time to post it.

I am sorry to hear that you were overcharged for your transportation to SD and I find it a little strange in that in my conversation with Benjamin he had quoted the 3.500 price to me also. Be it known that for transportation purposes that individual has been removed from my list of recommended options, (George?).

I too would suggest your next trip be made to PP versus PC as you should find transportation, accommodations and everything else much easier and cheaper.

Rick

Sorry for hijacking this...

Apparently he is getting "greedy". He charged 4.000 (that's what he told me) (which is still a good rate from PUJ) but if he quoted 3.500 on the phone he should have kept. Or did he charge more than 4.000?

I send him another customer who wanted the same trip, this time he wanted RD$4500. The deal did not go through.

I am sorry to hear this because I give him a lot of business (almost one long-distance trip RD$1000+ every week, myself or referred).

I will talk to him and will ask for his "desidered" rates, to post, and see if he can do a "contract" rates for DR1 members.

He is a nice guy, not a jerk at all, but I know he had his pickup truck crashed by somebody quite recently and now is using a rented one -- maybe that's the reason for increased rates?
