Talking Entry Requirements-Confused

Hi, we are going to Punta Cana in about 3 1/2 weeks. We are looking forward to it. On one website it says something about obtaining a Dominican tourist visa, and on another it says about obtaining a Dominican tourist card aboard the flight that we are on. In this case, US Airways.
I guess that my question is: do American citizens need a visa to enter Punta Cana? Or, are we just issued a tourist card upon entry to the country? If so, what is the cost of the tourist card?

No visa required for US passport holders.

You will purchase the tourist card for $10/person upon arrival into Punta Cana airport.
