Just came back from the DR!
It was my first time visiting the DR, in Puerto Plata, and I had a blast. I was able to get away from the cooler temperatures in Canada, and was able to celebrate Christmas on the beach. According to the weather websites I was expecting rain throughout the week, but fortunately, we had great weather, at 29 degrees celsius.
In case anyone is staying in a hotel (i.e. Occidental Grand Flamenco) along the Playa Dorada, I recommend the new disco called "Mangu". I went to check it out, and if you like dancing to merengue, salsa, etc. (plus top 40 hits), that's the place you want to be. If you are staying in one of the Occidental hotels, you should be able to get free cover into the disco, which is open every night!
Just wanted to let everyone know that my trip to the DR was GREAT!

location of Mangu
Mangu is located opposite Puerto Plata Village. It is beside the Jack Tar Resort Casino. I heard it had just opened about 2-3 weeks ago. My sister and I didn't really end up buying any drinks there, because we had consumed more than enough from our resort before going, so I couldn't really tell you how the prices were, sorry!
How are the drink prices at Crazy moon?

Hi,
I'm not too sure what makes an official dominicana, but if it means that I had so much fun that I would love to go back again, sure, then a I AM ONE!

Crazy.
An MGD, Miller Genuine Draft bottle of beer is 195P.
A small glass of Presidente is 140P I think.
The whole bottle is around 240P for a large, not the new really large.

I pay less for a Heinekin in NYC in a club!
MGD is not exactly Dom Perignon.

Just got back also
Hello, I just got back with my husband and 2 children from DR we went from Dec 16th -Jan4. Boy we sure had fun I had two Years that I didn't spend Christmas with the family over there. We went to Barcelo Punta Goleta in Cabarete, Puerto Plata the hotel was ok and the food so so. Then we went to Ifa Villas Bavaro Beach there the entertainment staff were great the show was marvelous, The check in staff was terrible and kind of racist towards us that are dominicans like them. The service was ok the phone in my room didn't work but they fixed it right away, No towels had to report it 2 times. But other wise it was nice my kids and family enjoy it.After that we went all over the country like Bonao,Azua, San Cristobal etc and we spent a night at the Jaragua hotel in the Malecon this hotel is 5 stars no complaints here. We really had a blast this year at DR, wouldn't change it for the world.
