El Marinique is located in Las Galeras, a sleepy ocean-side town in the north-east province of Samana. The one-room cabanas were clean and quiet with no air conditioning which wasn't needed. It was hot during my stay, but the design of the cabanas allowed breezes to flow naturally through the room keeping temperatures moderate for sleeping. Some of the best sleep I had in the DR was here at El Marinique. El Marinque is 100 yards from the water and has an unobstructed view from the terrace. The food was excellent.

I had a great time with Andy and Nicole (owners) and plan to head back soon for some more R&R and beach trekking. If you make the effort to get out and explore the beaches beyond Las Galeras it will make your trip even more rewarding. El Marinique in Las Galeras is intended for seasoned and refined travelers who appreciate atmosphere and culture more so than free drinks, 'animation-teams' and wrist bands.

Two times WOW!
Karla you must be talking about a diferent hotel becaus the el Marinique we stayed in September was nothing like what you say. The cottages are clean an neat and placed Dominican and they are in a nice garden that looks the bay. They are the cheepest hotel on the sea we found in Las Galeras. Good breakfast too.
How can you compare this to the casa Gri-Gri that is on the noisy corner in town and has a car junkyard behind the rooms?
The Las Galeras beach is a min
When we read what you write we wonder what personal problem you have?ute away 100m from the hotel. We saw lot of dogs during the vacation and I can say these are the healthie dogs. They also be happy and greet us evry day.

I would not even consider Elmarinique to be anything close to a 'Resort' - it is one level above camping with 3 cabanas (read shacks)
Be careful, this is NOT a place for young people or people of any age wanting to see Samana Peninsula, the web site is extremely misleading.
It is not on a Las Galeras beach, unsanitary, and over priced. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it is Dominicain Republic at it's worst. Two big dogs in desperate need of care are at home in this place, no tourists. Whent in and out in less then 10 minutes, stay at Gri-Gri for half price in excelent facilities.

we stayed at the el marinique and had the best time. andy and nicole were very helpful in setting up tours around the samana area like whale watching and a trip to el limon waterfall.the hotel is small but thats what is good about it .you get to know people better.the rooms don't have air but there was always a breeze so that is not a problem .the food is excellent,
and the prices are cheap ,and a full breakfast is in the price of the room.
when we go back to samana this is the only place we want to stay !
