My husband and I have been to DR 5 times. 4 times in Sosua. We are going again this month. Normally we do not stay at all inclusives however we did last year and will again this year.

Last year was our first time at Casa Marina Beach. We loved it. We had a wonderful room, spacios and airy, air conditioning, TV with remote and always had hot water, when we could get it. We understand that the standards are different in DR so we just go with the flow. If we need to wash off the ocean water, we can always jump in the pool to freshen up.

We never had a moments problem with the staff. We always found them helpful and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for better.

One request that I have would be for the hotel to provide more beach chairs. Seems to be a bit of a shortage.

Most of our beach time was actually spent at El Batey. We have made friends with many of the locals on the beach there and we enjoy their company.

The hotel store provides many items at a cheaper rate then on the street or at the other beach. My first purchase is usually an air mattress which I end up leaving with the kids when we go home.

We, as Americans, clearly understand that the DR is not America. Things operate at a much different pace and what we consider problems the locals don't think are any big deal.

We have booked independently at other hotels and have never had any complaints, other then one in town that was on a very busy, noisy street. Oh well.

I stayed @ The Casa Marina Beach, Feb.17-24/04. Good food, clean, nice beach. Problem too much noise, pretty much into the wee hours of the morning. My room was too close to street. Loud noises from boisterous guests, motoconchos, dogs barking, and worst of all the outdoor generator.
bartenders & housekeepers very cordial. the reception desk staff need better training in customer service. Not helpful or forthcoming with necessary info for guest services, keep letting themselves be interrupted by other guests, employees or phone calls while they are supposed to be serving you. The grounds were very lovely & well kept.
