Colibri is one of the best (if not the best) places to stay in Las Terrenas. It's right on the beach and it has a beautiful pool. The administration is doing an excellent job which is something to look for when you go to the Dominican Republic. The restaurant is under new management and they are doing a fabulous job. This could be the best restaurant in town. We bought an apartment there last year and are very pleased we did. It was a good investment and we are having a wonderful time. We went back this January and stayed six weeks and can't wait to go back again soon.

For us it was a perfect place to stay: close to the village of Las Terenas but far enough to be quiet. It is also a very good domicile to start all the excursions and adventures. We did the waterfall Limon, the nationalpark Haitises, rented a quad ( 4 wheelmotorbike), and lots of beachwalking on along the fantastic beach . But there are still thousend things to do. And the helpfull staff organized everythink for us.So we decided to come back in the whalewatching saison in Febrero next year.

I agree wholeheartedly, Play Colibri is a great place for a vacation. I went with my parents, they are in their seventies because I wanted to surprise them with a different kind of trip. They had never been to the Carribian and we had the best time of our lives. It was utterly relaxing, my mum loved swimming in the pool, my dad walking along the deserted beaches. The poeple that run Colibri are fantastic, they speak many different languages, have a library, make arrangments whenever you want, the gardener would bring us a fresh coconut every day. A great place to get closer to your loved ones, no stress, no worries, just a little paradise on earth.

We also were at Colibri in Feb of this year and were very impressed with the place. Clean, friendly staff and a nice beach with not bad snorkelling on the reef in front when the sea is calm. It is one place that actually is better than the web site looks! Our favourite restaurant was La Moorea newly run by Joseph and Lydia from Nice, France. It is a short walk away but remember to bring a flashlight as there are no street lights like we are used to and unless the moon is out it is very dark! Las Terrenas is a bustling noisy little town but everyone is friendly and willing to help you when they can make out your stumbling Spanish. Sign and body language go a long way and are good for a few laughs! If you are an animal lover bring treats for the dogs and cats. We had two very friendly male cats adopt us. Might have had something to do with the tuna! We hope to return to Playa Colibri next year.
