Residencial Casa Linda is a gated villa development on the highway between Sosua and Cabarete. There are about 60 homes - some of which are private homes - of which about half are available for short-term holiday rentals (and, I understand for longer lets too). The position is excellent and some of the newer properties have a view to the coast, which is less than a mile away. The villas were very beautiful, simply but elegantly furnished, with lush tropical gardens and private pools. They have modern, well equipped kitchens and bathrooms and air conditioned bedrooms. I found them excellent value for money and a lovely little haven of peace and tranquility. There is 24-hour electricity, 24-hour security and the whole community is very clean and well maintained. The staff in reception, along with the maids and garden/pool staff, were very friendly and efficient. It's sometimes difficult to find good private villas to rent, as an alternative to the all-inclusive resort, unless you can afford the A-list pricing of places like the Sea Horse Ranch or the houses on the El Choco development. Casa Linda provides a superb mid-price option.
