Huffington Post focuses on reasons to visit Barahona
A story in the Huffington Post lists five reasons to change a vacation at a beach resort for one at a small hotel in the southwestern Dominican Republic. Pam Grout, who is the author of National Geographic's 100 Best Volunteer Vacations, says what makes Barahona worthy of the number one spot on a Dominican Republic must-see list is that tourists can taste one of the world's highest-rated coffee that is produced there, the Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo Biosphere, the Barahona-mined larimar stone and its healing properties, the freak show of nature known as El Polo Magnetico, and ziplining to an Italian pizza oven in the middle of the jungle.
RD Fashion Week at Embassy Suites by Hilton
The newly opened Embassy Suites by Hilton, on Av. Tiradentes, is hosting the RD Fashion Week this week, from Tuesday 1 to Saturday 5 July. The event is a first for the hotel and will showcase the hotel's facilities for events.
The Embassy Suites opened in June 2014 offering 150 two-room suites at its location atop the three-level Silver Sun Gallery shopping, entertainment and office area. The hotel is located in the tallest building in Santo Domingo.
Targeting both business, leisure and event guests, Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo offers more than 22,500 square feet of indoor meeting space, including two ballrooms, break out rooms, and a meeting room. AA station in Santiago wins Customer Cup
The American Airlines team at Santiago's Cibao International Airport has received the American Airlines Customer Cup that rewards the station for being one of the best AA stations in customer services in the world. This is the second time that AA has selected a Dominican airport team for the distinction. The first, in 2010, was the Punta Cana International Airport station.
Art Torno, senior vice president for AA operations in Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America presented the cup to the staff and congratulated them for having reached the highest international standards. Oliver Bojos, general director of AA in the Dominican Republic, received the award in the name of the American Airlines personnel in Santiago.
The Customer Cup is a competition between airport station teams focused on improving processes, products and interactions to deliver a better customer experience. Customer Cups are categorized and awarded by market size from largest to smallest stations according to flight activity. The award recognizes stations for their performance in serving customers at the airport across six primary customer touch points, including gate interactions, the boarding experience, delays and delay management, onboard interactions, baggage handling and baggage resolution.
Puerto Plata to Montecristi coastal roadway announced
On Monday, 30 June Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia announced the start of the construction of the Maimon-Luperon highway. The new road will make it easier for tourists who arrive at the Maimon port currently being constructed by Carnival Cruises to go on excursions to the Luperon beach area. Garcia said the plan is to extend the road all the way to Montecristi, creating a new tourism corridor that will be named the Riviera del Atlantico, as reported in El Caribe.
